After a very busy Memorial Day weekend it was time to send Tyler back to school on Tuesday. We walked him there and then let Jason have a little bit of time on the playground, some playtime by himself with daddy at home, and then we took a little trip to the bagel place for a quick breakfast.
That afternoon Al picked up Tyler at school and let him play a little before coming home. After some more playtime we went to the bowling alley. I had heard of a program called "kids bowl free" which allows kids to bowl 2 free games each day all summer long. I decided to get the family pass for $24.99 which allows 4 adults to bowl as well. June 1st was the first day the program started for the summer so it was perfect timing to check it out. Plus it was too hot and muggy to do anything outside! Tyler had been before a few times, but this was Jason's first time. He used a little ramp and LOVED it. In fact I eventually quit bowling and let Jason take my turns because he so badly wanted to get up there and "bowl". Tyler enjoyed helping him set up the ramp too, so it was a win-win to let them bowl together.
That evening the boys all got to play together before they eventually had to go to bed. Unfortunately our night was just beginning...tax night for us (we had done an extension while Al was deployed). Fun, fun. At least we get money back though, so that makes it worth it!
Wednesday morning Al had a little bit of time to play with Tyler before he had to leave for school. We walked him up to school and they said their goodbyes, but then Mrs. Rardin (Ty's teacher) asked Al to come in and talk to Ty's class. He did so, which was pretty cute, and Tyler looked so proud!
After leaving Tyler at school we walked home. Literally, as Jason refused to sit in his stroller. I suppose it was daddy/son bonding time. They enjoyed a last hour or so together before Al's sister came to pick him up to take him to the airport.
After picking Tyler up at school he had a little bit of playtime, but it was very limited because it was HOT. 90 degrees! That afternoon I picked up his classmate Gavin for a little playdate. This was Tyler's first playdate with a boy, and he was excited. I had gotten tickets for a special anniversary "birthday" at Pump it Up. I figured it was good timing to provide a nice distraction with Al having just left. In addition to the regular bouncing they had live music, science experiments, super Mario characters, Wii demonstrations, Evesham firetruck visit, pizza and cake. The boys had a great time and Jason was pretty cooperative. Overall I'd say it was a success!
After we were all done we went outside and waited probably 20 minutes so the boys could see the firetruck up close and personal.
Thursday I finally captured (sort of) a photo of one of the birds that resides in Tyler's birdhouse. We presume it has eggs in it (or will soon), as it has made a nice little nest and hovers around it quite protectively.
After some dairy (accidentally) the night before, Jason didn't nap that day. Starting to seem like way more than a cooincidence.
That afternoon my mom took Tyler to my grandparents so we could have some quiet for Jason's first Occupational Therapy (OT) session. It was mostly for the therapist to get to know Jason and his situation, so I can't say much happened. I didn't get a great warm and fuzzy feeling from the therapist, but she was nice and I guess we'll wait and see how it goes.
Friday we had to skip out on the "tot storytime" as Jason decided he did want to nap. Phew!
