visitors

On Thursday my friend Marisa (college friend and roomate) packed up her minivan and took off from MA for NJ. I haven't seen Marisa in 2 years, so I was excited to see her. I would also get the chance to see Jocelyn again, as well as meet her new little girl Elise (and she would get a chance to meet Jason). She'd be staying for 4 nights, and Tyler had been counting down the days as he was pretty excited. I had expected her earlier in the evening and Tyler was counting on it, so when she hit traffic and didn't get here until later I still had to keep Tyler up to see them. We occupied ourselves outside while waiting with some wiffle ball, soccer, and lightening bug catching. They didn't get here until maybe 9:30, but Tyler was wide awake and ready (meanwhile Jason had been asleep inside). We didn't have too much time to play, but luckily all the kids settled into bed nicely and Marisa and I were able to take some time to catch up. Just like old times.

In the morning all the kids got to get to know each other (and Jason discovered how to jump on the ottoman...good times).

Eventually I shipped Tyler off to camp and hung at home with the girls and Jason. We decided to walk down to the lake, figuring the kids could play on the playground.

As it always happens when you're not prepared for it, the kids wanted to go IN the water. We decided to just let them, clothes and all. We didn't last too long though, as the sky darkened quickly and we head home, just in time for the rain.

Despite the rain, camp was not cancelled. When Tyler did get home he was exhausted from the hours in the heat, but not too tired to play with the kids and try to read Jocelyn a book.
