Cape May Zoo

On Saturday I was so excited about the forecast (50 degrees for the first time in MONTHS) that I decided to head off to the Cape May Zoo. Packed lunches and decided to make a day of it. Luckily the boys cooperated, Tyler listening to music and Jason finally napping on the way. We arrived at maybe 10:30, and it was still a bit chilly, but we were quite comfortable in coats. It was sad to see the zoo had been pretty badly damaged by all the snow and wind in the past few months. Many downed trees, lots of standing water from melting snow, and even a few collapsed cages (the first photo shown being the destroyed habiitat for the 2 bald eagles). Anyway, the boys had a blast, especially feeding the goats. Jason even got in on the action. Otherwise Jason's favorite animal were the guinea fowl that walk openly around the zoo, and also the squirrels. Doesnt' everyone go to the zoo to see wild squirrels? LOL. Jason also decided the stroller was a bit of a hinderance, preferring to walk a good deal of the trip. Tyler enjoyed navigating the map and planning our trip. Afterwards we left and went to the nearby playground and had a picnic lunch and playground time. Then I allowed Tyler to pick a few animals to go back in and see. He chose goats and pigs, so apparently the boys would have been just as happy at a farm, with squirrels as well. LOL.
