We have a heartbeat!

Phew, I can finally relax a bit. At first I was getting nervous because they couldn't seem to find anything, but then they found a "sac". She asked if I was sure about my last menstrual period, maybe I wasn't as far along as I thought??? Not good, if you ask me. Then they found a baby with a little "flicker" (heartbeat). She said it was really small though, but lo and behold, it measured at 5weeks and 6days (I'm only 6weeks 0days based on my last menstrual period...so 1 day off isn't bad at all, especially considering I normally ovulate late to begin with)! She said her machine isn't sensitive enough to measure the heartbeat rate on a baby that small, so I don't know how strong the heartbeat is, but she said everything looks good. They will see me in 5 weeks. FIVE weeks. How will I ever make it that far? Well, I suppose if I continue on with these current symptoms I will survive hoping that everything is still going well. By then they should be able to hear a heartbeat with a doppler. Wahooo!!! They are still gonna consider the due date to be October 2nd, based on my last period, since the date she got from the ultrasound measurement was only 1 day apart.

It's not a great scan (nor is it easy to get a good picture of a 6-week gestation pregnancy), but here's my baby! It's the little blurb in the lower right dark oval-like shape.

As some of you know, Al was luckily able to go into work a little late so that he could stay with Tyler during my appointment. I had a few people ask why I wasn't going to have him be with me during the appointment. The answer to that question is simple. Under NO circumstances do you want to explain a vaginal ultrasound to a 3-year-old. LOL! I hope I can avoid that one for a while. Sure, I had to bring him with me last year quite a bit when Al was deployed, but at 2 years old he didn't pay quite as much attention. Geez, I could only imagine the questions I'd get now. Not to mention, we aren't telling him yet so it's easier to leave him completely in the dark. As you see though, I did get a picture, so Al was able to see that.

W H Y that spells why

Super Why, it's Super Why! Sorry, if you don't have a toddler in the house, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. It's a relatively new show on PBS (or Sprout) and Tyler is obsessed! Well, he recently rediscovered the computer and pbs kids is just his favorite website! Super Why is the most frequented subcategory. It's just too cute to see him playing on the computer singing along to the songs!

In completely unrelated news, I now truly know the meaning of "waves of nausea". Never quite got that term until today. It's amazing how it can just come out of nowhere. It kind of makes me happy, in a sick and twisted sort of way. Nausea means good baby hormones, right? Well, I guess we shall see tomorrow, as I have my first actual appointment with the OB/GYN, including blood work, and yes, an ultrasound! Wish me luck!

People I know

So a few weeks ago one of the girls on BAMs asked if we had ever met anyone famous. For some reason today it occurred to me that I know 2 people "in the business" (show business, that is..he, he).

Miranda Reinfeldt: She was my best friend for a few years growing up (mostly junior high). We were always VERY different, but for some reason we clicked. We remained friends all through high school and then slowly lost touch after graduation when I went to Boston and she went to New York. She still lives in NY and I see her on occasion, but it's definitely been a while. I think I've only seen her twice since my wedding in 2003. Anyway, here is the IMBD site for her role in the movie "Cupidity". And here is the Cupidity cast site, which she is featured in the 2nd picture on the top row. Looks, umm, interesting. Maybe I should rent it. How horrible is it that I've never seen her only movie? Anyway, it also says that she was featured on Guiding Light and As the World Turns. She's come a long was since our days of watching All My children and Dark Shadows. Yep, look it up, Dark Shadows WAS a revival show in 1991! LOL!

Adrienne Frantz: We went to high school together. We were definitely never friends, but we had mutual friends and occasionally sat at lunch together in a large group. I most recently saw her at our 10-year-reunion (2006). You may remember her name from a few soaps. She was Tiffany on Sunset Beach, and Amber on The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless....as well as many other things. You can view some pics and her filmography career on IMDB. She is now writing music. Her song "halfway" is reportedly about her relationship (or was it her breakup???) with Goo Goo Dolls singer Johnny Rzeznik.

So, there is my fascinating info for today. I hope you've enjoyed it! LOL!

How could I be so useless?

I had no idea someone could accomplish so little in a day! I don't think I've been this useless since the day I had my wisdom teeth pulled in 1997.

I did NOTHING this morning, unless you count pouring Tyler some cereal and helping him get ready for preschool. After dropping him off (which, by the way, was tear-free..yipee) I came home and wasted time in front of the computer, called the insurance company, and laid down and watched the cooking network. After picking him up we ate lunch, I unloaded the dishwasher and then he took a nap. He napped for 3 hours, and all I managed to do was re-load the dishwasher, check my e-mail, and nap myself! Normally I wouldn't nap, 'cause that would mean I'd be up all night, but I don't think that's the case. I can barely stay standing. I did force myself to take Tyler outside (meanwhile mostly sitting in a lawn chair) and boil some water for some pasta (to which I added zero side-dishes to complete our dinner). After forcing myself to eat (so that I wouldn't pass out) I finally started to feel a little less nauseous. I did a load of laundry and helped give Tyler a bath. Eventually Al realized I wasn't doing too well and he took over. After putting Tyler to bed I've since watched 2 re-runs of Friends. I'm contemplating eating some more, but nothing sounds good. Any ideas?

I'm happy that I THINK these are symptoms, but hopefully I can get something done tomorrow!

UPDATE: I did later recall that I played about 1/2 hour of Cooties with Tyler, so that makes me feel like I perhaps am not the worst mother in the world. LOL. I did manage to eat an apple and I took a bath (just a warm one) and am feeling slightly better. I think I'm off to bed soon!

You have to pick your battles

Last night, after a fun night of crafting with the girls, I got home and changed Tyler's diaper before I went to bed (if I don't he tends to wet through by morning). Well, I don't know what Al gave him to drink last night, but not only was he soaked when I changed him around midnight, but he wet through completely by 3:15am AND by 5:45am. WHAT? Doesn't everyone love to change sheets twice before 6:00am, and then be up for the day with a cranky toddler? Needless to say, I cancelled any thoughts I had of going to Disney today.

Anyway, Tyler was tired today and when he announced he was dressing himself, I just wasn't going to argue. I must say, he managed to match (purely coincidence, I assure you), but he could just care less that his pants were on backwards. I have to remind myself that sometimes you have to pick your battles. So, enjoy a picture of Tyler in his backwards shorts, and then a couple later at the community pool. BTW, it was gorgeous tonight!

What to do?

Last night Tyler was talking about Disney (as usual) so I decided to take a look at my annual pass since I recalled that it was expiring towards the end of this month. WRONG. It is good through TOMORROW! I quickly pondered going today, but I was dead tired and I also didn't want to cancel out on "crafternoon" (which is now being held at Andrea's tonight). Can't miss that!

So, I'm debating whether I should go tomorrow. My annual pass was a Christmas gift last year but I did not get one this year as a gift. Buying a new pass myself is not in the budget, not to mention that Tyler really technically needs his own pass now too. So this likely might be the last time we could go at all! However, Al can't go (he's very sick, not to mention that it's Superbowl) and I'm concerned about lugging around the stroller on/off the trams, pushing Tyler around all day, walking around in the heat, etc. I'm just not sure it's good for me. I've been extremely tired and achy and I don't want to push it. Plus, I've really been needing Tyler's nap time to get some rest myself...if we are in Disney that's not gonna happen. But it's our last chance. Just can't decide!

Resolution Rewind

I posted on January 1st about my 2008 New Year's Resolutions. I just thought I'd quickly review how I've been doing. Yes, I realize Melodie did the same thing as well, but I swear to you that I've been planning on doing a monthly re-cap all along! I suppose great minds think alike!

1). Be a better blogger. Well, although I'm no longer in the competition, I have succeeded in that I have not missed a single day of blogging this month, nor do I plan to in the near-future. Then again, if you are judging the QUALITY of my blogs, I'm sure "better" wouldn't necessarily be the word you would use. LOL!

2). Better organization. I was able to get rid of a few things, but that was it! More work needed on that front. Anyone want to have a chat with my husband? Topic of the conversation will be "less is more".

3). Better health. Well, I done wonderfully drinking my daily recommended amount of water. I've been doing pretty good on regularly exercising, although I did recently switch to exclusively lo-impact types of things. As for the food intake part, well that could use some tweaking. I will definitely say I've done better, but I have a long way to go. I have upped the amount of veggies I eat and have been buying more organics. As for weight loss, well that ain't gonna happen because I'm now pregnant. Although I did lose one pound, likely before I found out. As much as I don't want to gain weight, I will happily do so. So, I'll be barefoot, FAT, and pregnant. Fine by me!

4). Catch up on my scrapbook. Well, I have been scrapbooking. However, as I've mentioned in the past, I just can't NOT scrapbook things. As my fridge magnet says "If it's not in the scrapbook, it didn't happen". So, therefore, EVERYTHING must be in the scrapbook. I've probably worked on it almost every other day, even if it was just for 5 minutes at a time, so that's a huge accomplishment. However, because I do SO many pages, I've BARELY caught up at all. One month ago I was working on a layout from Tyler's birthday (August 24, 2006). One month later I'm working on a layout from September 30, 2006. So, in one month time I've progressed to 1 month and 6 days time in my scrapbook. LOL! I know, I'm crazy that I kept track of this, but even at this rate I'll be caught up by 2027.
