Saturday morning was my little man's 2nd birthday. Hard to believe, huh? Tyler, my sweet little boy, decided on his own to go through his bookshelf and pick some ones that he thought his brother would like. He then wrapped them up in construction paper, included a small plastic chick-fil-a cow, and made him a birthday crown like they made him in Kindergarten when he celebrated his summer birthday (a little early). How adorable is that?
Tyler had a soccer game bright and early at 9am. It was a doozy though, as Tyler managed to get hit in the head with the ball while in goal, and then had a total meltdown. He wanted to leave and I told him he had to at least sit on the side and cheer on his team. He absolutely refused and then wouldn't get up to shake hands with the other team at the end of the game...so then the meldown escalated when i wouldn't let him have a snack with his team (as I warned would happen if he didn't at least shake hands). Sometimes that child can really test my patience. He's lucky he can be so sweet some other times or I might have donated him by now.
After Tyler's soccer meltdown we got in the car to spend the day in Atlantic City. The weather was gorgeous! Of course Jason hadn't fallen asleep on the ride like he should have, so when we arrived my dad pushed him in the stroller on the boardwalk and he was alseep shortly. Meanwhile my mom and I took Ty to the pier to go on rides. It was a special fall festival day and they were collecting canned goods for somethign, so with every collection they had a half-price all-day ride pass, so we got one for Tyler. He had a blast getting to ride the rides enlessly, which worked well considering the pier was practically empty, which totally shocked me. Oddly enough, Santa was there as well. Apparently Santa visits the pier in late September before he heads north to the pole to start making presents. Tyler would not go up to him at all though. Eventually Jason woke up and they went on a few rides before we went to eat.
My mom had free meals at Taj Majal so we ate at Sultan's Feast buffet. We had a nice meal, but I wans't too impressed with the atmosphere, although the boys were entertained by the bird that was IN the restaurant. At the end of our meal we put a candle in a cup of pudding and they sang happy birthday to Jason. He even attempted to blow out his candles, which was pretty cute.
After our dinner we hit the boards again to go on a few more rides. Tyler finally agreed to go over to Santa, probably only cause Jason agreed to first, but he wouldn't stand next to him. LOL. They enjoyed quite a few rides again before we walked down the boardwalk to purchase a replacement hermit crab. Ty picked a nice specimen which he has named rainbow due to his color-striped shell.
A perfect second birthday!
