professional pics
One long day at the mall, and $120 later, I have these pictures to share (yes, I bought the CD). I actually have a ton more, but thought I'd share my favorites. I originally intended on doing just Jason's 6 month photos, but then I realized Tyler wasn't in school and it would seem mean to only get pics of Jason, so Tyler got some too. Upon getting there Tyler announced he wanted Easter pics like he saw displayed, hence the Easter shot...

spring break, day 1
Monday was the start of Tyler's spring break. I've been sorta dreading this, between Jason learning how to sleep in his crib (which equates to less sleep for me) and Tyler not having entertainment.
Anyway, I decided to bring Tyler to Pump it Up that morning to get us out of the house and blow off steam. He had a ball running, jump, sliding, bouncing, yelling, etc. It's hard to believe that, less than a year ago, Tyler was afraid of this stuff. Now I can't get him off of it! It was a great diversion, made even better by running into an old playgroup friend I haven't seen in a long while!
In the afternoon, once the threat of rain finally seemed to pass, we went outside to play a little. I drew Tyler a picture with sidewalk chalk and he drew one back. Isn't that so sweet!?!?

i can't pass up free
If you know me you know I love a bargain. I search out deals all the time. When I came across this kid's workshop for FREE at Home Depot, I knew I'd have to take Tyler. Tyler got his (FREE) little apron (which he insists on calling a smock) and bird house kit. He loved making it, and upon completion he got a little certificate. He already had me mark on his calendar the next kid's workshop at Home Depot.
Just for fun I looked them up and there is a free one at Lowe's this coming Saturday (which happens to be a bird feeder). My parents will be here visiting so he's already reserved my dad for bringing him to this event. Apparently my mom and I have been permitted to "stay home with the baby".
So, that was our big Saturday. The rest of the day we spent recovering from our long day visiting my grandparents yesterday. The boys had tons of fun, but it made for a long day! And around 6:00pm Al finally made it back home from Oregon. Tyler had him immediately join him in lego creation.
Oh, Jason found his voice. When I say that I mean that Jason found his ability to shriek. Loudly. It's quite cute though.
Jason slept in his crib last night for almost 4 hours, and then went back down for 3. I could hardly believe it. Unfortunately I think it's attributed to the sleep deficit, shot recovery, and Tylenol dosage. Tonight he slept for 40 minutes before I gave up and put him in his swing. The good news is, it's midnight and he's not in our bed yet. For the first time in 6 months Al and I got to watch TV together in our own bed!

way to grow!
Today Jason had his 6 month "well baby" appointment, a little late.
First, the stats. Measured in at 20lbs even and 27.25in. If you are thinking that is big (don't get me wrong, it is) may I remind you that Tyler was 22lbs3oz and 26in. So Jason weighs a little less and is a little more proportioned, but "healthy" (the doctor's nice word for "huge"). He said he was in the 90th percentile for both height and weight!
He's pleased with all his milestones and I got to hear lots of boring stuff like using sunscreen and keeping him in his crib.
He agreed that Jason's "cold" has been around far too long in his short little life, so he gave us some allergy medication to try. In the meantime he wants us to try to wean him off his reflux meds (most cases of reflux are outgrown by 6 months apparently). He also wants me to continue to add more foods to my diet since he seems to be doing fine.
In related news, I am slowly transitioning Jason out of our bed, which is exciting, although incredibly tiring. Last night (for the first night EVER) I was able to nurse him and put him into his crib. Granted he only slept for 20 minutes, but it's a step in the right direction. At least he's letting me nurse him in the rocker and is (sometimes) falling asleep! I'll take what I can get. As we speak he is in his crib again and has been there for 42 minutes!!!! My baby is growing up!

April Fool's
"Mommy, you forgot to tie your shoelaces...(giggle)...April Fool's". Ah, such is my day today with Tyler. Thanks Mom for teaching him about April Fool's jokes! I must say, that this his best one, which he is really only repeating from my mom. The rest go something like this....
"Mommy, you forgot to wear your shirt"
"Mommy, there's a monkey on your head"
"Daddy, you forgot to wear your shirt" (repeated seconds after telling the same "joke" to me).
Very convincing, I must say. LOL.
In other unrelated news, Jason had his first non-cereal food today, sweet potatoes. He made this hideous face, and then right way tried to get more. I guess he liked it!
In other (related) news, I'm eating wheat again. It's day 4 of it and all is going well. Not a sign of any issues. Wahoo! Keep your fingers crossed. Oh, and I'm pretty convinced that Jason's congestion is seasonal allergies. He doesn't have a single sign of the cold that they claimed he "probably" had, other than the congestion, but he keeps rubbing at his eyes. I myself have a scratchy throat every morning and itching eyes. Tree pollen is high. Lovely, another little boy with allergies.
I'm back to being a single mommy, at least for a few days (and hopefully ONLY a few days). Al left for Oregon this morning and should be back this weekend. At least it's this week and not next week. I'm not sure I could handle 4 days by myself without the distraction of school for Tyler (spring break is next week).

But occasionally they bond over certain activities. Like learning about the countries of course. Tyler was "teaching" him. I'm sure Jason gained a great deal of knowledge.
From there it was time to move on to handwriting.

I'm all out of order these days. Hmm.....
On Thursday Jason took his first ride in a cart...and he tolerated it! Thank goodness for not having to carry him around the store all the time!
On Friday I found this "hat" of Tyler's, which Tyler refuses to wear. It came from a happy meal based on Pirates of the Caribbean. Anyway, Jason will tolerate it, so I guess I have to play dress up with him.
On Saturday we went bowling as a family. Tyler had a ball and did fairly well, although he has resorted to rolling the ball between his legs again. Jason sat in the stroller most the time, just taking it all in. We then went to Sonic for a snack. Al and Tyler ended up having whole meals and then ice cream, and I ended up with a slush. It was good though. Shockingly, and I have a hard time believing this myself, the less I eat the processed junk, the less I crave it. It wasn't even too hard watching them eat fries and tator tots and ice cream. Don't get me wrong, if I could have I totally would have had some, but it wasn't too bad. Getting easier.
On Sunday Al fed Jason some cereal. He calls into me saying something like "I got him to eat the whole bowl". I was shocked, considering he doesn't usually eat too much for me. Then I saw his shirt. I'm pretty sure most of it is there. That's what happens when daddy feeds baby.
