conversations with mom-mom

As you might imagine, Tyler loves talking to his mom-mom. He could have a conversation with her for hours, if you'd let him. Today was no exception. Jason even got really into the conversation today, cooing and squealing away. The boys were both in such a good mood that I grabbed my camera and snapped away. I figured my mom could use the cheer-up.

some video

It's been a while since anyone has seen us, so here is some video, just so you don't forget us!

First off, Tyler "reading". He got this letter in the mail from my mom, and much to my surprise, he read most of it. I didn't tell him anything, and quick broke out the camera. He actually did better on the first try, but you get the idea.

Secondly, Jason, just being a happy baby.

Party Day!

Tyler had a birthday party to attend on Saturday. We were all invited, and we're so glad we got to go. Tyler had an absolute ball on the "caterpillar obstacle course" and the princess bounce house. Jason seemed to enjoy himself, only missing about 5 minutes of the action for a powernap in the Moby wrap. All in all, a great afternoon, followed by some deep sleep for the boys that evening!

Happy Irish Baby

Should I rename this blog post "Fat Happy Irish Baby?" 12 month sweatshirt, a little too snug. I took this pictue the other day before I shipped it off to another home with a baby who could actually fit in this. Plus, what need do we have with a sweatshirt in Florida? It's 82 today! Not to mention, this is not the full extent of his Irish wardrobe. More to come!

on the road to recovery

On Sunday I was really struggling to get Jason to eat. I figured it couldn't hurt to try to get him to take some water, being that I figured he'd really only play with it (and we could all use some distraction). Much to my surprise, we thought he might have drank some fluid out of the sippy cup! Curious to see if he was actually drinking anything, we put some water in the bottle (where we could see markings for amounts of fluid) and he drank about 1/2oz. I'll take it! He loved holding it and trying to drink.

Tyler spent his recovery watching way too much TV and playing Mario Kart. Thank goodness he also took some time for relaxation during yoga.

Jason finally had a vomit-free night last night and his fever is down quite a bit. He's still VERY congested (which is causing us to lose lots of sleep), but hopefully is on the mend. He felt well enough today that I let the boys play outside. Tyler loves bubbles, and Jason was fascinated by them!

I've lost it...

Here I am, at 2:00am, because Jason decided I should not sleep tonight. Hey, at least I got to watch The Biggest Loser.

Anyway, back to the point of my post. I just noticed that I posted twice about us moving. I had NO recollection of doing so the first time. Yep, I've lost it.

sickies

The house is sick. It stinks.

Before I fill you in, let me first just state that I'm so happy to report that my mom got her results back and they confirmed that they were successful in removing ALL of the cancer. Yipee!!!!

Back to my current reality. The flu sucks. Tyler got a fever Friday. He was complaining that his tummy was hurting and was having some potty issues. By Friday night Jason was running a low fever and was fussy. By Saturday both boys had fevers, and Jason's had gotten pretty high. I felt pretty crappy too, but not "sick" per say. By Sunday Tyler's fever was gone and he was mostly okay, but Jason had taken a turn for the worse and was vomiting and running high fevers. I brought him to the pediatrician on Monday and they ruled out RSV, but he tested positive for the flu (I didn't even know they could test for the flu)! Oh, and he weighs 18lbs6oz...whoa!! He's still vomiting and running fevers, but for now the most I can do is treat the fever and try to keep the congestion at a minimum. She said that this particular flu strain comes with high fever for many days, accompanied by lots of mucus and congestion (which is likely what is causing his vomiting). He doesn't want me away from his side (hence my lack of ability to blog, or, do ANYTHING). Fun stuff.

I'm extremely thankful that the rest of us had gotten flu shots, or else I fear that we would all be VERY sick right now. The doctor stated that this flu strain is very bad, so I'd like to think that my milk (and flu shot) provided some sort of immunity to him or else he would have been worse (Jason's too young for the flu shot).

Oh, and in other news to report, we're moving! Al got his orders and we're leaving here the end of May or beginning of June. We'll eventually be stationed in North Carolina, but he has some training to do first, so I'll be heading (with the boys) to NJ for at least the summer. I imagine there will be many happy grandparents in New Jersey!
