Note to self...

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, go to Walmart on payday the weekend before school starts. Not relaxing. In the slightest. Even if it is 10:30pm and you thought you could get in and out quickly. Perhaps plucking your eyelashes one by one would be more pleasant.

Summer's coming to an end!

Yesterday we had an "end of the year" play date at the springs. We had a little potluck brunch and the kids played on the playground and then did some little school-related relay races. Tyler thought this was great fun.
Then we all spent some time playing around in the water. I enjoyed myself...well, as much as a pregnant person with extreme swelling can. By the time I got home I could barely make a fist because my hands were so swollen!
It made me so sad to realize that any weekday morning events aren't going to include Tyler anymore. He'll be starting preschool on Monday and I won't have my little man around in the AM. The morning was always our time. Probably because the afternoon heat and I don't mix, but the AM was when we hit the library, the playground, zoo, beach, errands, etc. The afternoons are usually more difficult for me, between "nap" time, the heat, and the afternoon traffic.

Yep, so as I said, school starts Monday. Last night was the "open house" at Tyler's preschool. Al was able to come along and he was incredibly impressed with the actual school, the staff, and program. I had half expected Tyler to be shy and cling to us, but after a few minutes he was off and playing with the kids. He seemed to like his teacher as well, so I'm trying to be optimistic and hope for a tear-free (or at least a minimally tearful) first day!

My baby is growing up. So bittersweet.

Can someone inform the weather gods that school opening is supposed to signify the coming of cool weather? That would be nice. Thank you!

As promised

maternity shots!

Okay, I couldn't figure out how to get the images on here, so I took a picture of the only photo I physically came home with (the rest I have to wait 2 weeks for).

Olympics Fan!

Tyler has become quite fascinated with the Olympics (as he should be)! He particularly likes diving. I will have to record some gymnastics, because I bet he'd get a kick out of that!

sign of old age?

Is it a sign of old age when your previously used shot glasses have now become bouquet holders for "flowers" (that term is used loosely) that your son picks for you?

My almost-4-year-old!

So I had Tyler's pictures taken on Thursday at Sears, and I was pretty happy with how they turned out.
It's probably illegal that I just posted this, but I figured I could share the photo link with anyone, and this really isn't any different. I certainly shelled out enough cash in the photo center, so hopefully it's not illegal to just repost a few of the photos. It's not like I'm printing them myself or anything!

And, on a slightly related note, my "stretch marks" have not changed at all. I'm still not totally convinced that they are stretch marks, but i guess that remains to be seen. Regardless I have an appointment on Monday for maternity shots and they promised me they could edit them out. In all honesty I think I'm the only one who'd ever notice anyway, so hopefully I can avoid the airbrushing. Then again, maybe I can have them airbrush off a few pounds. Hmmm????? I kid, I kid!
